is the successor to an earlier effort Cricket Scorepad. Cricket Scorepad was originally written in response to some requests from the readers of the comp.sys.newton newsgroup on the internet. Being a dart player and Newton owner myself I decided to take a shot at writing a good score keeping program for Cricket - Cricket Scorepad was the result.

After using Cricket Scorepad for a while I found it was lacking someobvious features and set to upgrading it properly. Darts Scorepadis the result. For those who used Cricket Scorepad I'll start by listingthe enhancements in this version.

Undo - Unlimited levels of undo are supported. Unfortunately thesystem's undo levels (2) were inadequate so I was forced to put an undo buttonon the status bar. Tapping will undo the last commands one at a time all the way back to the beginning of the game (if you want to.) Trying to undo at the beginning will give the system's Trill beep sound.
2.0 Style Info Button - All of the functionality that was scatteredacross the status bar on different buttons is now put into a pop-up menu(marked with an I) a-la 2.0 programs.
More Games - Cricket Scorepad scored Cricket and Mickey Mousebut only for games from Bull to 15. Darts Scorepad will also score fromBull to 10 for both Cricket and Mickey Mouse giving 4 different games insteadof 2.

Instructions

Operation of the program is fairly straightforward. The top of each columnhas an input line for the player or team names. These are displayed only and not used for saving games (yet) so feel free to leave them as Player A andPlayer B if you like.

Each 'point' 20 - 15 (or 10) and Bull are represented by a row on the scorepad just as if you were scoring on a chalkboard. To register a hit click on the '+'button. 3 hits, 3 clicks. Future versions might have these buttons respondwith pop-up menus for 1-9 hits.

The scores will automaticly be updated for hits on closed points that the opponent still has open. On the status bar there are 2 buttons: The infobutton and the Undo button. The Info button allows the user to access the 'About' screen by clickingon the About menu choice. It also will allow the user to start a new gameBullseye - 15 or Bullseye to 10 depending on the user's choice. The bottomsection of the menu will indicate (with a checkmark) which type of Cricketthe user wishes to play: Cricket (Also called American Cricket) or MickeyMouse Cricket. To switch to the other game simply click on it. You may evenswitch between Cricket and Mickey Mouse during a game, although changes willnot be retro-active. New clicks will be scored according to the checked game.

The Darts501 Leg Scorer

The Darts501 Leg scorer is a basic darts game scorer that will prompt you with an outshot when one is available. To start you may wish to enter the player's names or just leave the titles as Player 1, Player 2.

To enter your names just click on the ‘Player 1’ and enter the name you want and again with ’Player 2’.

Now select the ’01 game you wish to play from 1,001, 701, 501, 301

to reset the score for a new game just click on the ’01 game you wish to play i.e. 501

Scoring

Enter your score and press enter. If you enter the wrong score just press undo and re-enter the score. The scorer is designed to prompt outshots combination when your score can be finished within three darts. The checkout finishes are just guides and you may prefer your own combination out shot.

Match and stats are not supported with this basic scorer however there are many on the internet that will show this detail.

If you are looking for something a little different and have a Microsoft Office Excel spreadsheet software then you might wish to try one of the few Excel dart scorers I have on this website. The first one I wrote back in 2005 then I added a Cricket version. The other two were sent to me by Darts501 fans for inclusion on the website and both have put their work in to make the most of the functions within an Excel spreadsheet. Revised June 2020 V1.4.1
